A Mea Culpa from the Web Master

Deep Dive Cinema went live a year ago on some genuinely rough HTML.
I don't say that to be modest. I say it because it's true, and because anyone who's poked around this site over the last twelve months already knows it. The search worked. The films were there. But the pages themselves — the thing you actually looked at — were held together with good intentions and whatever markup got the job done at two in the morning.
The plan was always to come back and fix it.
Then I started making Coffee with Claude, and promoting Coffee with Claude, and the fixing got pushed to next week. Next week has a way of accumulating.
What I did instead
I kept adding films. That part I never let slip.
The archive is past 4,400 titles now. Every one of them indexed, described, cross-referenced, and reachable through Cinema Sage. That number went up more or less continuously the entire time the site looked like a first draft, because cataloguing is the part of this project I find genuinely irresistible, and CSS is the part I don't.
So the library got deeper and deeper while the room it lived in stayed exactly as I'd left it. A serious collection in a shabby building. If you've ever walked into a used bookstore with a fluorescent tube out and boxes in the aisle and then found a first edition on the third shelf — that's roughly the experience I was offering.
I appreciate that some of you stuck around for the third shelf.
What I've fixed
I've now given the pages the attention they should have had a year ago. The layout, the typography, the way films present themselves, the way the site behaves when you're on a phone instead of a desktop — all of it has been rebuilt rather than patched.
It's the same archive. Same 4,400-plus films, same Cinema Sage, same search that lets you describe a film you half-remember and get handed the thing you meant. But it no longer looks like something I threw together and walked away from, because it isn't.

That's the real point of this post.
A lot of you used this site while it was ugly. You searched, you found films, you came back. You did that without any of the polish that normally convinces a person a website is worth their time — you did it because the films were there and the search actually worked.
That's a generous thing to extend to a one-man archive, and I noticed it.
